We travel in this group tour during the rainy season. Most tourists visit The Gambia between November and March, in the dry season.
Another period which is worthwhile for birding tours in The Gambia, are the months July and August.
Then is the breeding season in The Gambia but also the rainy season. There are a lot more birds to see then, which are very active and beautiful in this period.
Normally, the cloudbursts take place in the evening and at night and if they occur during the day, they are of short duration, so that the sky remains clear blue.
For birdwatchers, this is actually the best time to visit The Gambia, as the land and wildlife come alive then.
The humidity in this period is quite intense (80% - 89%) so be prepared for intense heat. We stay in rooms with fan (Fan) and with air conditioning (AC).
You will travel together with an English speaking guide and Dutch speaking guide. On request, this trip can be extended with extra days in Mandinari Lodge.
