Our lodge is located in the De Tanbi wetlands, just at the southern entrance to the mouth of the Gambia River. It covers a total area of about 6,000 hectares (including 4,800 hectares of mangroves) and the largest expanse is to the west and south-west of Banjul.
Our lodge is just a 40min drive from the airport. As its remote location on the mangroves, only full board accommodation is possible.
Our location is fenced and security is present all day. So your belongings are safe as no one can touch your room.
On optional excursions, someone from our team will always accompany you.
Good to know: Our rooms are equipped with a quality fan, 6 universal power sockets (no adapter needed), usb chargers and thanks to our new solar panels with lithium lifepo4 system, we are 100% solar powered. (24/24 powered)

You will spend a week in beautiful Mandinari, away from mass tourism and full of colourful birds. We have spacious rooms with four-poster beds and private bathrooms. We serve local meals but also European meals like mashed potatoes with chicken breast, spagetthi bolognese, fries with stew etc.
You can get numerous soft drinks as well as beer, wine and if available cocktails (Gin-tonic).

Our photo hide on the estate is at your disposal. If there are other guests, the photo hide is shared. There are 5 places in the photo hide .
Our local guide can (optionally) take you for a walk through the mangroves that are right behind our domain.

Tanbi wetlands: Vast wetlands a few km from the lodge; close to the Atlantic Ocean. Here you have a chance of seeing Beauduin's snake eagle, long crested eagle, brown snake eagle, Abyssinian roller, White troated bee-eaters, Dark chanting goshawk, Sandgrouse, and many others, among others. We can visit this site in both morning and afternoon. Rate = 20 euros pp. (min. 2 persons)

Lamin rice fields: Vast rice fields and vegetable gardens 5km from the lodge. There is plenty of water here, so lots of birds too. You have a chance of seeing several kingfishers, African jacana, Black heron (Umbrella); Palmnut vultures and many others. We usually do this location in the morning during beautiful morning light. Rate = 25 euros pp. including guide and driver. (min. 2 persons)

Farasuto forest: A prime location for birdwatchers 25km from the lodge, heading inland. More than 100 different bird species have been spotted in the reserve. In addition, another 100 species have been spotted in the surrounding areas. Here you have a chance of seeing the Green touring eagle owl, Grey eagle owl, and with a bit of luck nightjar. Half-day excursion, departure in the morning and return around 1pm. Rate = 45 euro pp. (min. 2 pers.)

Hike Mandinari: Hike near the lodge with a local guide. You have the choice of walking along the mangroves and in the woodlands or to the village with its local market. On the route are vegetable gardens, which attract many birds. Rate = 10 euros pp.
Kotu bridge with boat trip: We leave in the early morning for Kotu, the place-to-be on the coast. The Kotu bridge and surrounding rice fields are a true feast for birdwatchers. Here we also do a boat trip on the Kotu stream through the mangroves. At near water level, photograph ibises, black herons, dwarf cormorants, kingfishers and numerous waterbirds. Half-day excursion. Rate = 40 euros pp. (min. 2 persons).

Kartong wetlands and beach: A unique birding area of freshwater pools, coastal dunes, sandy beaches and with over 250 bird species observed here. During this half-day excursion, we first visit the wetlands, concluding with a visit to the beach on the Atlantic Ocean where having a drink is also possible. Rate = 45 euros pp. (min. 2 people). Includes guide and driver.

Guided stay at Belgambia Lodge: Optionally, a guide is at your disposal who will accompany you every day to find species near the lodge. He will walk with you in a 3km perimeter of the lodge where 120+ species can easily be found. He will also guide you on the property in the photohide if required. Excursions to the above areas are not included but can then be booked at a reduced price.
