BELGAMBIA FOUNDATION PROJECT by Senegambia Birding™

The Belgambia Foundation exists to make sure tourism in The Gambia creates real, lasting impact. A part of the profits from Belgambia Lodge and Senegambia Birding supports projects focused on education, food security, medical support, orphan care, and nature conservation.

At the heart of our work is a partner school in Mandinari, under our care and supported through our local network. Around 150 children attend classes there—yet resources are extremely limited. There are not enough desks and chairs, school fees are not free in The Gambia, and many families struggle to pay. Teachers often receive little or no stable salary, and some children are orphans or highly vulnerable.

But our foundation goes beyond education. We also provide food support and essential medicines for families who are struggling, and we are working towards a long-term goal: building a safe orphan home—a place where vulnerable children can live with dignity, protection, and care.

 

When you travel with us, you help turn a journey into something bigger:
more children in school, more stability for teachers, more meals and medical support for families—and stronger awareness of conservation and waste management, taught by our local guides. This is not charity for show. It’s partnership, responsibility, and long-term care—built step by step, together.

Every contribution goes directly to community projects we support, including our partner school in Mandinari, food and medical support, and our orphan care project.
