Far away from the busy coastal resorts lies Belgambia Lodge Jarjari, our newest lodge and base for exploring one of the most remarkable birding regions in The Gambia. Here you wake up to the sound of birds, look out over the African landscape and can quickly reach wetlands, savannah, rice fields and open plains offering a completely different birding experience from southern Gambia. Jarjari is The Gambia as very few visitors get to experience it.
A PARADISE FOR BIRDWATCHERS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS
The lodge is located in the North Bank Region, close to the extensive Bao Bolong wetlands. From Jarjari we can visit birding areas that would otherwise require long day trips from the coast.

Here we search for species including Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Abyssinian Roller, bustards, Martial Eagle, sunbirds, hornbills and many others. The reputation of this location speaks for itself: BBC and National Geographic selected Morgan Kunda as a filming location for the Abyssinian Ground Hornbill.

Belgambia Lodge Jarjari has 10 rooms, a covered dining area and an elevated birdwatching platform. There are standard rooms with fans and rooms with air conditioning, all with private bathrooms and terraces.

The Gambia Experience has also included the lodge for many years in its specialised birdwatching programme and describes Jarjari as an ideal base from which to explore the North Bank.

Belgambia Lodge Jarjari was formerly Morgan Kunda Lodge and was created from the social work of the Morgan Clark Foundation.
Today, a new chapter begins. The Morgan Clark Foundation Project and the Belgambia Foundation Project are coming together, united by the same belief: tourism should not only create beautiful memories, but also support employment, education, healthcare and opportunities for local communities.
