ITINERARY I PRIVATE TOUR GAMBIA I 10 DAYS
COMFORT LEVEL: NORMAL TO GOOD   CONDITION LEVEL: NORMAL

This round tour takes you from the coastal mangroves to the vast savannah landscapes further inland. All camps and lodges included in the itinerary are strategically located near top birding and photography sites, allowing us to make the most of every moment in the field.

Gambia and Senegal are home to an impressive variety of species, including 9 types of kingfishers, 5 rollers, 8 bee-eaters, and 10 sunbirds. In total, over 690 bird species have been recorded in this small but biodiverse region. Throughout this journey, we aim to help you spot as many species as possible—or capture the best possible images—depending on your personal focus and interests. The adventure begins just 20 kilometres from the airport, in a peaceful village near the mangroves of the Tanbi Wetlands. Depending on availability, your stay will begin either in our private guesthouse or at Mandinari River Lodge.

Upon arrival at the Senegambia Birding Lodge, you’ll be personally welcomed by the owner with a short introduction to your journey. Our surrounding tropical gardens and nearby photography hide already offer enough birdlife to fill the first days with rewarding sightings.

From there, the tour takes you inland to discover the authentic heart of The Gambia—a different landscape with new species and unique encounters.

You’ll be accompanied throughout the trip by an experienced, well-trained driver and a certified guide, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and enriching travel experience. If you have any questions or wish to receive a custom proposal, feel free to contact us—we’re happy to help.
